20-01-2012: 11 Organizations Sign Declaration
Eleven Major Organizations sign the Declaration of Amsterdam
Workplace Pride is proud to announce that 11 organizations (see below) have signed the Declaration of Amsterdam during it's 2012 New Year's Reception. The Declaration of Amsterdam is the first step in creating a real, measurable improvement in the workplace for lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender employees (LGBT). It calls upon employers, employees, unions, and governments to work together to develop a measurable benchmark for a gay-friendly workplace. The declaration was announced on 1 July 2011 at Workplace Pride's (then operating under the name of Company Pride Platform) 5th International LGBT Business Conference in Amsterdam and was directed to all employers, employees, unions and governments in Europe.
Although apprearing after the Press Release which announced 10 signers, TNT Express also signed the Declaration, making it the 11th organziation to do so. Other organizations are invited to sign the Declaration of Amsterdam and can contact Workplace Pride for more information. Organizations themselves are responsible for implementing the 10 points of the Declaration of Amsterdam. However, as a complement to its Declaration, and using that document as a starting point, Workplace Pride will develop an international benchmark which will measure LGBT inclusiveness in workplaces everywhere in the world.
